Three black-and-white character illustrations for a space-opera sci-fi RPG, drawn at print resolution and built to stay legible on a home laser printer. A space-mystic with an energy blade in a tactical cloak, grounded and meditative. A personality-driven droid with expressive optics and segmented plating. A rogue pilot with the kind of jacket that has been re-stitched more than once. The brief came in with a long list of things the art could not look like, and that list ran most of the design decisions.
Corwin is building a printer-friendly ttrpg sci-fi RPG inspired by a certain galaxy and a certain cyberpunk module, so the legal guardrails were strict from the first call. No lightsabers, no recognizable robes, no recognizable species, no logos, no terminology. We pulled the mystic toward something closer to a desert pilgrim, gave the droid optics that read as personality rather than franchise, and let the pilot live in the gritty negative-space tradition the cyberpunk reference came from.
